The vaccine has a cut-off age for when the government will cover the cost. I checked every possible way to get covered as an adult but I missed the window by a year or so in my 20’s. Getting vaccines outside the window when they are most effective for you (which is when they are offered for free) means that you have to pay for them because they are elective. I also wanted to get the shingles vaccine because I had chickenpox 3 times, but they aren’t just giving that vaccine out to people under 50.
