I’ve never taught somewhere where. It’s been comfortable having these positions in the classroom. I don’t keep my views a secret at all but I know I’m in the minority in the teachers’ room. Last year one of my students came out as non-binary and changed their pronouns and their grandmother has told me that I’m the only teacher that made an effort to use the correct pronouns. I’m very thankful that I am able to be there for them but it makes me sad that I’m the only one.
